Basically last night, one of my mates woke me up saying theres a massive dent in my car. I went out and there was gold paint all in the dent etc. There was also a gold car parked near it, with a dent in the back bumber. (He had obviously reversed out smacked my car and drove back into the slot and went into his flat etc) The paint taken from the dent matches that of the color of his car. Went to the police station etc and reported it this monring, the security guard in the uni accomodation said he's willing to speak to the cops saying what he saw, and in his words (He's 110% sure it was that car that hit me). There was no notes or anyting left on my car and i couldnt not find the owner since it was like half 2 in the monring. Im waiting for the guy to come back soo i can speak to him, but what i want too know is if he doesnt admit it, do you think there would be enough evidence to make a claim against him. I know its a bit vague but any suggestions would be helpful =] There isnt no CCTV or anything either. Is there any sort of way they can match the paint from the dent which ive kept too his car etc? or isit my word against his? Sorry about the essay..

Hmm not sure i dont think they will go to great length to proof it was his car that his yours. Could just be coincidence that he has the bump there?

Could be a coinsidence, thats what im worried of. But the paint i have from the dent in his car, matches the paint on his car aswell. He was driving an Audi A3 and it has random dents and stuff everywhere. Plus where we were parked if he reversed fast  he would have made perfect contact with the dent made in my car. Waiting for him to come home, so i can have a few words with him, dont really know who it is though, so im waiting for the car to pull in. Hopefully he will take all responsibility

If there is any of your paint on his car on the dent in question on his then it was him.

A chinese guy came to my flat today and admitted it was them. He said it was his mates car, however they dont have insurance and were drunk. I have two options continue to let the police get on with it, and they will be fined heavily, or get a quote from a garage tommorow and get them to pay me cash by a maximum of wednesday then inform the police that they have sttled it up. Think ill go with the latter one

I would take them to police.

Doudt the police would do anything tbh. They'll more then likely just tell you to try and make a claim through the small courts, but i doudt that would work. Plus if the police get invloved their not going to admit to them they were pissed and have no insurance, and more then likely deny everything. And the police will have to try and prove who was driving if there were a few of them, and thats to much work for the boys in blue tbh

even if they were pissed at the time that wont come into play if the police get involved as there are no positive breath/blood tests proving it.

Yeah i know the drink driving wont come into play, because i said in the police station ealier, they may have been drunk and then decided to lock themseleves in their flat, and he said they have no way to prove that. But insuracne on the other hand is a different matter. I have witnesses of him confessing it know anyway, but id rather have the cash by tuesday like i told them and not have to worry about the police getting invoved. I cant see him having enough cash though, ill try and upload some pictures onto here by tomorow or someting.

This happened to my 2 day old Pug 206cc Parked up in college, came back and there was a dent in the rear side panel, with black paint where I had been hit, I was fuming, found out there was no CCTV, but i found a black clio with post box red paint on the drivers side corner (blatently mine), went to the Police, they told me if no one has seen it, theres nothing they can do, I said cant you match the paint on my car to his and vice versa, they basically said to do that we need permission to take paint samples from each car, and the other person is under no obligation to let them do it, so he said your probably wasting your time persuing it - It ended up costing me £300+ cash to avoid bumping my insurance up...

Thats why if I ever seen anyone hit a car and drive off, I would put a note under the wiper stating the persons car details, and my contact details for the police...

Take the cash is your only option tbh as its just your word V their, they can deny ever speaking to you......

I got quoted £1380 too fix it, they are paying me by tuesday, think they are scaredof the police getting involved becauses hes uninsured. The garage i went too (Stadium Garage skewen) are known to be a bit expensive i think, so i may get the money and look for a cheaper job then ium up a couple of hundred hopefully =]
