what is wrong with a glass of wine with a nice meal, or a lager with mates on a summers day? alcohol doesnt always have to be about getting drunk.
Having said this i like to have a drink when out as much as the next person, its when people drink themselves stupid and get themselves in trouble that it causes issues - plenty of people are capable of enjoying themselves and staying within their limits

I'm going to agree with _Peter_ here - yes you can drink and not turn into a total knob, but I believe this thread is targetting the unfortunate number of people that drink to excess and enjoy losing their senses.
I think the point is driven home when you're out some night and not drinking, and you get to witness just how annoying drunk people really are.

Anyway, i'm not 'dependant' on alcohol, as Petey boy says. I work all week and I just like to get out on a Friday or Saturday and have a drink or 10 and let off some steam. I can be a dickhead but then again some people are dickheads even when sober, ahem *cough*.
