In the UK you don't get paid for it.

if you are rhesus negative and you are pregnant you need to see your doctor because it could affect your baby, i know somebody who is rhesus negative and this caused her to have a miscarriage because her blood saw the baby as an infection in her sysytem, because the baby's blood group was the same as the fathers. it doesnt always work out this way but you should still consult your doctor.

if it was her first pregnancy, it usually dosnt cause any ill effects, its any sudsequent pregnancies it can cause problems with

Until your head blows up like a football or you develop some sort of rash.

I don't mind about not getting paid for my blood, there is someone out there who will need it more than me, i can easily make more.

You can have your blood group checked.  I'm O negitive.

same as me, we're only actually in a small percentage (approx 5%) of people with this group.

do you give blood? once I realised how rare it is, I started giving blood because its in quite short supply

yea it can happen... they usually give it now even in 1st pregnancys if the mothers negative... happens when the babys blood crosses with the mothers and the mother produces antibodies which destroy the babys blood cells or summit reulting in miscarridge
