Can't say i've ever had that to be honest. If someone said to me that they didn't want a relationship yet that's what i was looking for, i wouldn't see any point in dating them.

The fact that they are dating you then finding someone else to have a proper relationship with kinda makes it seem like you are willing to have something temporary and are making them believe that this is all you want. If you want a relationship let them know, that way they have the chance to get out. Honesty is the best policy if you ask me.
