To be fair I think you're the one saying this, I don't think the vast majority of girls are after webcam sex, either that or you've been talking to the sluttiest ones going.
It's a social networking site, people use this site to kill time and for their own means, personally for me I don't go on here to make friends it's just purely to discuss things on the forums.
But the underlying reason to that is an ego boost.
