Registerage old argument , just does really grate on me
do ppl think hes over hyped to fuck , because of his speed and the fact he played in slipknot
really annoys me when ppl actually consider him to be the best drummer ever
what do u guys think ?

You've hit the nail on the head there to be honest. Joey is fast and he has a fairly distinct style and sound which is a hard thing for drummers to acheive nowdays but hes far from the best in the world.
You only have to look at the technical drummers on youtube playing tripple layer polyrythyms and so on to figure that out

He's a good (but not great) metal drummer. End of. Someone like Flo or John here would come under 'amazing metal drummer' (these aren't drum solo vids btw):

I think a lot of it is simply down to the fact that most kids getting into metal aren't exposed to the bands that are home to a lot of awesome drummers. In years past you might get a mention of someone like Pete Sandoval in Kerrang, but they sold themselves so far down the river that I'd be surprised if they cover that kind of territory any more. Metal Hammer is only a little better these days, you have to buy Terrorizer or Decibel to really get exposed to the underground(ish) stuff.
Knowing who Derry Roddy is, for example, would require you to have gotten into death metal, gone past the obvious bands like Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel and Deicide and listened to stuff like Hate Eternal and Nile, got the ear for 'decoding' what you're hearing into the individual instruments (and what they're doing) rather than just the wall of noise most hear if they're not used to it, and finally understanding the ridiculous skill it requires.
