Hey Guys!
Ive not been around in a while. But I have a a question. I don't want this turning into a typical Mac vs PC arguement, though I fear it'll go that way anyway.
Basically I've been a PC user all my life, but for the past 5 years have been doing Web/Logo/Brand design. Two years at College level and three and University. For the 3 years at Uni I have met alot of Mac Pimps that keep telling me my job will be easier if I use a Mac. So I've been looking into them. Heres the Question:
Being a PC User all my life, and being use to them, and comfortable with them, will there actually be that much off a benifit to me if I change to Mac?? Does it actually make the Job Easier? I've used Macs before but not often. Is it worth the change?
If it makes sense Im not asking what you prefer, but Im asking is there actually enough benifits to justify changing from what Im comfortable with?
If this doesnt make sense, then my apologies. Any answers are welcomed
Chris

Peace I use a combination of mac and PC's. I use windows to generally create my 3D models and i use Mac to use photoshop to go about creating the texture maps etc for it... I find my workflow on the mac is much better as it generally seems a hell of a lot more responsive. I run both windows and mac on the same machine (mac pro) so they are under the same hardware before anyone says i might have a slow pc.
To be honest i imagine you will be using a lot of photoshop etc.. and i can recommend a mac. I have been using them for 5 years now and i find it a much better work environment. Especially with the lack of crashes etc.. You can turn on a mac and get on with your work, i find myself being slowed down by virus scans etc on my pc.
I feel i am a lot more productive on my mac but thats just an opinion.
Oh and don't let anyone chuck the software arguement at you, just because there isn't 10,000 different choices of apps to do one job doesn't mean there isn't a great alternative.
On another note if you will be doing a lot of heavy photoshop work a macbook would be great. However if you can stretch to a macbook pro then you will see a huge performance difference. Or better yet if you don't need something portable the iMacs are great.

- Due to the sheer lack of room I have an iMac would be perfect fitwise. I would be using Photoshop quite alot, and more and more often Illustrator. I also do a bit of 3d modelling, though granted I havent had to do alot. I was looking at the Macbook/Pro and only today looked into the iMac. It seems general consensus is that the Mac will run smoother, what about ease of use. Is it much different to use say photoshop on Mac as opposed to PCGod Bless
Peace Photoshop is essentially the same. The only difference is all the windows are floating windows instead of having that big gray background covering your entire screen.
The Os itself is really easy to use however coming from windows it will take a little time to adjust. To be honest most people i know who switched struggle because they don't think things are as easy as they actually are. Such as installing an app or removing it. Just drag it to your apps folder and to remove just drop it in the trash. (just one example)
However its mostly down to opinion. Windows and macs have there uses, i just find my mac more productive.
