What are peoples thoughts on the new scirocco?
I personally think that VW are to a winner with it. Went to look at one earlier and it looks stunning and i am considering purchasing one as a result.

Nicer than the Golf for sure. Although bit misleading VW labelling it as a coupe, its just a slightly squashed hatchback, certainly not in the same style as the original. But its supposed to be a more involving drive than the Golf GTi, so thats a bonus, I think it'll do pretty well.
VW have a habit of naming their hatchbacks as coupe. Take the Mk3 Polo Coupe. It's a 3dr hatchback.

Still to me the new scirocco is what the BMW Mini is to the Austin/Rover Mini - Nothing a like and will never be as iconic.

Id be interested if it came in R32/36 form, I thought about one but the 2.0 GTI just isnt appealing enough for me, Ford Focus RS is far more appealing
Yeah.. and the engineering looks a whole lot more interesting up front too.
Having said that, They did divert a lot of the development budget into the Golf chassis/suspension set up, from the interior (hence the reason it doesn't look, and more importantly, feel as good as the last Golf). - I have been told that the set-up for the Golf is very expensive for each unit produced, so I have a feeling that a slightly modified (widened) set-up is being used in the Scirocco - gotta make their money back somehow...
In mine and many, many others' opinions, the interior quality - ergo, the feel -of the previous Golf, was what made the package better than the new one.. The next ew golf won't feature such an advanced set up, but the interior quality will be worked on again.
i really really like the look of it
is a possible for my next new car
although id be changing the wheels for something abit tastier

Is a nice little motor are they going to be doing a r32 version of it or is that stuck to just golfs?
Definetely a Scirocco 'R' model being released, although I think its going to be 2010+ before its released. There's also the R36 Passat
They could use the R32 3.2 V6, and I imagine the R36 engine would fit in the engine bay too, but with all this climate change/emissions crap, I have a feeling they'll go for the 2.0T model, with the power upped to S3 territory. Could even possibly be the 2.0 from the new Mk6 Golf GTi, which is a brand-new audi unit.

Talks sense, heck, by 2010, there could even be a 300bhp ish VAG Turbo Diesel under the bonnet
Although personally, I think it will most likely be in R32 format, not even R36.
2.0 Turbo out of the S3 could also work as you say...
