I never meant that it was a shock more that he was likening homosexuality to destruction of rain forrests and general global warming issues ie the complete fucking up of the world. Is that not stupid? Also homosexuality is considered a fact in science nowadays. And lastly I did say jesus christ primarily because he says things like "he who has not sinned, shall cast the first stone" or something like that. Of course the bible completely contradicts itself. Mainly because the first part of the bible god is a punishing god and the second he's a loving and forgiving god. The second part which is heralded by the birth of jesus christ of course... I can't be assed to type anymore

there have been homosexuals since the dawn of time, they go on about it like it's some new craze. Jeez' if people don't find the other sex attractive who are we to persecute.

I'm sure it says something in the bible about forgiveness anda accepting people. The pope generally seems to ignore that.

It does, but it also calls homosexuality a crime and talks about stoning them to death.

But you have to realize this is a time in a Middle Eastern country when armies would come into a city, cut open the stomach of pregnant women, kill the babies and the mothers, and leave.. just to make a statement.

It's not a matter of ignoring. It's a matter of what you believe in. He doesn't believe homosexuality is genetic and believes it's wrong to choose to be homosexual. He has every right to believe it, no matter what you might think of him.

It has never been proven 100% one way or the other whether homosexuality is genetic or not. If it had, it would've been splashed all over the front pages and people would've talked about it nonstop for weeks. It's kind of like global warming. There are strong arguments on both sides(and people feel so strongly about it that I just might get bashed for even posting this) - but the facts just aren't there to really validate either one of them. This is what happens when you leave people guessing for their own answers... they disagree. And strongly.

I'm not getting into the "the Bible contradicts itself" thing. You're not religious.. so I don't expect you to think much of the Bible. I am, so I've studied it.. and I obviously do think a lot of it.

I was unaware there is a obligation to have children.

LOL what's the strong argument for global warming not happening? The evidence for global warming is sky high. I doubt american media bothers to report it. Luckily barack obama has just appointed two of the most respected scientists in the global warming debate as his chief advisors for science although congress will no doubt behave like slack jawed hillbillys and do its best to burry to keep burrying its head in the sand. The saddest thing is if not enough is done about global warming it will be people like you who suffer, all the big business cats will have enough money to live comfortably untill they die. There's also a lot evidence pointing toward battyboyism being genetic. Gay people tend to have certain chromosomes and there's also evidence that these changes happen in womb. You get gay animals who never mate with the opposite sex, and since christianity has no respect for animal's cognitive ability then this must be instinctive ie genetic? I have a crap memory so I can't really recall all the scientific jargon but I think your cultural upbringing plays a huge part in your thinking that sceptics have strong arguments against global warming and homosexuality, in the end science is nothing but a working hypothesis so any uncertainty however small will probably be enough for you not to trust it.

I come from an embarrassingly christian family so I'm not completely unfamiliar with religion and have probably thought more indepth about it than most people. I don't really trust anything the church says as there's loads of evidence that they've meddled with the bible and change things to fit their own thinking and prejuidices. They're just people at the end of the day and have no right to claim that you can only know God through them. The bible doesn't say that. At the end of the day gay people aren't just one dimensional. They have a whole host of other things to them. It looks to me that the pope is more homophobic rather than objective on the issue. Anyway I fully expect the catholic church to accept homosexuality as completely natural in the future just like their acceptance of evolution... oh that's another thing american christians don't believe in

Merry Christmas anyway Amanda, hope you're having a good day

Yes evidence for global warming, such as the first coast to coast snow in Canada for thirty years or so, massive ice storms across the US. The earth is definately warming up!

"Climate change" is the latest reds turned green attempt at forcing their views upon the rest of the nation and the governments latest excuse to tax whatever they like. I will not change the way I live my life simply because of some unwashed hippies.
