It's not that. It's people saying Mac runs PC software better or vice versa. Which is a nulled arguement now that PCs and Macs both use the x86 architecture. Similar spec macs and pcs are pretty much both capable of the same stuff, the only difference is the price tag and the illusion of cool that comes with being a macfag.

If you pulled a Pc with the same spec as my mac mine would be faster. Due to the fact I dont need half of the software a Pc does.

I dont need anti-virus, dont need word or excel. just pure Creative suite and msn

I don't give a fuck about the illusion of cool. I'm not an Apple fanboy by any means. Their first gen-products should be avoided like the plague, I'm not a fan of certain business tactics (i.e. locking iPod users into using iTunes, non-user servicable parts) and the existance of the Macbook Air offends me greatly. The reason I'd pay the difference in price is simply because of OS X. I'd have gone with Hackintosh, but there's still several flaws regarding updating/system fixes that need to be addressed. The whole Apple/MS rivalry is akin to the 360/PS3 arguments. And it's all retarded.

lol at buying a mac *just* to do graphics work. I can't say ive ever struggled to do design work on a Windows PC. I paid for a cheap computer and its still perfectly capable of doing A1 size designs at very high resolution without the pc throwing a fit. although it doesnt really help using a TV which is only 720p, but the hardware itself is fine. But I can respect that macs are alright and all that.

If I had a PC with the same specs as your mac, I'd be running FreeBSD (not windows) with a minimal install (not even X) and it would destroy your mac since I have no need for office or graphical applications and can run everything I need to from the command line (should I be so inclined).

If I was using windows and couldn't figure out how to remove bloatware and configure my system for performance, I'd move to the country and start rearing pigs.

Sorry guys but despite what the haters might think XP is pretty much de facto. A lotof the industrial design packages I use, Solid works, CATIA V5, are all Windows based, as well as a few other minority systems eg Sun OS, HP UX, SG IRIX etc.... Interstingly, the first two come from the base Unix source- in a round about way, they are kind of related to OSX through BSD and NeXT. Unfortunately, there isn't the market share within industry to produce OSX versions.
You see that.. That's you that is... :D :D :D

Nothing wrong with that. Im just saying I find it funny that people only buy Macs for such specialist stuff, thinking its not possible to do on a Windows PC. Photoshop on the mac is identical to PC afaik, i guess it just runs quicker, I wouldnt have a problem using a Mac for it though, aside from just getting used to macs in general. At that point its more software, rather than hardware. As eek said, they run on alot of similar architecture now. Macs *used* to be alot better for certain things, but the gap has closed alot tbh.

If Football Manager and various other video editing/music editing software came bundled with a Linux install i'd never use Windows again....

I could learn how to install shit with linux, but i can't be assed.
