Posted: Mon 20th Feb 2012, 6:11 pmI think only the person trolling knows if they're trolling or not. Others can accuse them of trolling if it looks like they are but it may not be their intention.
Trolling is when someone just says stuff to wind people up, ie just going against someone's opinion for the sake of it, usually as a means of getting attention, and persisting with it, particularly when more people object. I think persistance is the key. It's a bit like bullying in that it gets encouraged when you provide a response each time it is carried out and then more of the same follows. Thus picking up on someone trolling when you find it annoying is counterproductive.
