- I've just eaten the flesh of another creature, am I going to die of super duper cancer that I wouldn't have caught if I were a vegan now?

but we dont have claws lol...we have nails.. if we were to stick them into animal flesh theyd break not latch on...lolNails are claws. Chimps "claws" are capable of ripping and tearing. We evolved to use spears and cutting tools like flints. So our "claws" have become what they are today.

Also lol@not being able to eat raw meat, ever heard of steak tartar? Sushi?
Read about the 'raw' diets?Problems only arrise if the meat has been handled in an unhygienic way.

Civil debate?
I don't really think that science has anything to do with most peoples decision to become Vegetarian. So I don't see the point arguing for it using facts that didn't sway them.
Of course I could be wrong and maybe it is the science. In which case they could use the scientific excuse. Again any arguement is an arguement, but It doesn't seem relevant to me anyway. Right I'm waffling and probably sounding quite unintellegant.God Bless
Peace- A poster was trying to use 'science' to point out humans aren't designed for eating meat, something of a fallacy considering if we didn't start eating it back in the day we wouldn't be sitting here using our well-developed minds to ponder over it. Yes, 99% of vegans are so because of their ethical stance on it.

- Which we have stressed several times we have nothing against, only when the superior smug attitude and flat out lies are produced do we start taking shots back.
- Now here is what I believe is what is going on here with regards to the unhealthy meat claim, it it has something to do with their ethics getting in the way of telling the true story. Processed meat is not good for you, as it is full of fat and extra salt. We all know this, if you eat processed foods constantly it is going to start having a effect on your health as you will be missing out on nutrients needed. Fresh meat that has not been fucked around with however is good for you with a mixed and healthy diet, however due to the ethical stance surrounding these vegan sites they simply lump the whole lot into the same boat rather than state the differences between fresh meat from a well looked after animal and a scotch egg.

CHIMPS ACTIVELY HUNT OTHER MONKEYS!
David Attenborough even showed it in his early documentaries. You'd know this shit if you actually watched something other than big brother.
Yep. And also, if a person feels the need to compare themselves to a chimp, then possibly the rethinking should begin?
What use is reason, imagination, progressive thinking within a primitive culture, if not to benefit all and promote evolution?
Is this Self promotion, Self destruction, or Self progression?

We compare chimps because we have a related ancestry in evolution we simple have a two fused chromosomes (I think that is the term) compared to Chimps that don't. Hence why Chimps have 2 more chromesomes more them us. (Please correct me if I am wrong). Hence why comparing ourselves to Chimps is very relevant. E.G look at felines all have a common ancestry but obviously have slightly different techniques to get what can only be described as a equal diet to all the specific's of cats.
People are only complaining about meat eating because the killing process isn't aestheticly pleasing.
The real problem about vegan and veggies is that in a an act of survival they will kill an animal to survive. If not the dwarian award has won again.
''Science is interesting if you don't agree, you can just fuck off.''
Richard Dawkins quoting a Science magazine, 2008.

If we break everything down to its partical essense, then we are left with simple energy. Knowing this scientific fact, (and spiritual by the way) we can associate ourselves with anything. If you're happy with an ape? Then go for it!

I apologise, I haven't read through all the pages. However I'm guessing there's been the vegan arguments that 'we're not designed to eat meat'. I don't necessarily agree with this argument, and in connection to this thread is irrelevant anyway. I couldn't care less about whether or not I was 'designed to eat meat' when I'm perfectly healthy not doing so. I breifly saw the 'in a life or death situ, you would eat meat' argument. Well yes I definitely would, but in a normal day it's not necessary for me to do so, so I choose not to.
Also to health. You can be a very healthy meat eater, and a very unhealthy vegan. It can work the opposite way too of course. So this doesn't matter either.
What matters here is the environmentalism angle. An article such as this from the Guardian points out some reasons. Friends of the Earth I think it is, is due to have a 'go veg to save the earth' type campaign rolled out in '09 about it also. There's a study called Livestock's Long Shadow produced by the United Nations which also delves into this in more detail.
Regardless, who is anyone to say who is and isn't an environmentalist? We all do what we believe is enough, and although the facts are there about the effects of eatings animals, it doesn't mean that someone that does eat meat is a hypocrite, or can't possibly care about this place. It's all about individual decisions, and no-one should be criticised about that, from either side of the argument.
