I think that aslong as there is some form of control in force...i.e when the person decides that they want to die, they have to be in sound mind. For example, someone finds out they have got cancer, they write a note saying that if it gets too much/they get too weak etc that they give their consent to be assisted in death.

Otherwise people would be getting away with murder, literally.

I ave always thought that the human race was the most cruel, I mean a dog is lying there dying you will put it down, if a human is dying you just let them suffer

Thats religion for you. Apparntly only god can choose when you should die blah blah what happened to the free will "god" gave us

OT: We had this discussion back in school because i was blasted by everyone since i was the only one for it. I agree as long as the person in question can concent to it in front of a lawyer or even a judge or something because there is legal backing for whoever put the ill person to rest. This would also prevent it being used to help murderers.

well if this was abortion id be totally against, but i have different opinions on this situation so ..
im for euthanisia when someone is terminally ill and when it is nearing the end of life for sure and when the pain is so unbearable and its giving them no happiness being in this world any longer, against sucide obviously in its self though. However i went to uni glamorgan for this conference the other week and they were saying how when medication is given for terminally ill patients their life can be extended and the pain can be taken away for however long and people have been able to live their life near enough to as normal i agree with both sides tbh but i think when it hits rock bottom its only fair to give someone the chance. If its someone however that has no illness and just basically wants to die then i disagree with euthanisia as there are so many ways of dealing with the depression and the problems the person has then to use euthanisia on a healthy person is murder.
capital punshiment although is nothing to do with this topic im against as well i dont believe in the slightest and i disagree with an eye for an eye tooth for a tooth etc.

LOL the contradiction is outstanding here. Total against abortions even in cases of harm to mother or child i guess in your totally against it principle. But its alright for a human to die by their own hand or by someone elses.

I don't understand why people are against abortion. What if its a 14 yr old kid who is still in school who is pregnant. You really think they can support a baby? As said above it may put the pregnant women at risk or even the baby might be born into a life of torture due to illness etc... Its no different to euthanasia really.

im all for euthanasia.  i couldnt bare to see someone suffering, i'd rather them just be laid to rest in peace, its not only better for them its better for the family etc just knowing that the persons not suffering anymore. really dont see why people would be against that.

One time, i drank two pints of Gasoline and swallowed a whole box of birth control pills.

theres too many factors to look into and like said before, you could argue for hours. Some believe you have no right playing god, others feel that its not always the sufferers choice and that the family own a big part in perhaps incouraging it, others feel its your life do what you want etc

personally i think theres people out there who have to suffer alot more and dont take the easy way out, but on the other hand i believe people should have a right to a choice and if taking their life is that choice so be it
