    Ok i know i am a bit out dated but i love my PS2, but lately every disk i put in it keeps coming up saying  "DISK READ ERROR"...

    but sometimes the games play and sometimes they don't. Any advice on this problem apart from people saying to buy a PS3 etc...

    could it be a laser problem?

    Run a disc/lens cleaner. Could be actual drives shagged.
