Knowingly 90%+ of people on these forums dont care about teams below 4th in the Premiership and Scottish tables. However, to discuss something different for a change, the current plight at Rotherham United.

Within 9 games they have made it into positive figures from -17. This is a massive achievement for a club to do with so little money. 'Bigger' clubs with larger fan bases are likely to find this easy to get over, i.e Leeds who can bring players for money and fund huge wages, but despite the deficit on both money and large fan base Rotherham have managed to suceed in such a short time.

Not to mention the comparable success in the Cup competitions, getting past the first round hasn't happened in over 5 years or so. Not to mention knocking out teams such as Sheff Wed, Wolves, and Southampton supposedly far superior than Rotherham United. Tomorrow night (tonight) it's the visit of Leeds United in a different cup and for once going out in the first round wouldn't be disasterous.

Praise to Mark Robins and assistant John Breckin for changing everything round they deserve most of the praise, and to the fans who didn't give up hope and for supporting the club financially into the future.

The only sour points are that coverage of such an amazing feat considering the circumstances has been bleak. Sky Sports has covered an interview with Mark Robins once - and that is only down to us being on Sky against Leeds tonight.

Secondly, wont be long until other clubs come in for Mark Robins and all the hard work gets undone.

I suppose this thread is mainly aimed at Rotherham fans to give a chance to celebrate in positive times for once, and for others to have their say on such matters.

Personally, i can't see Rotherham getting relegated. Depending on how long the good run can continue in the League they could make a serious push for the play offs.

Bournemouth have had a good start too and look promising to avoid relegation but I cant see Luton Town avoiding the drop.

After 4 wins on the trot and a beautiful -8 to now look at have your expectations for this season changed??

I have said it before and am going to repeat it again I've always thought this season there was no chance of being relegated with the new signings and team effort put in. -17 points might seem a lot but you just have to look at last season table to realise that it really wasn't as big a mountain for us to climb. 17 points between being Champions to just missing out on the play offs then a further 25+ points from missing out on the play offs to avoiding relegation. Thats over 40 points, even Luton could do something!
Everything at the club seems to be on a high, which is a welcome return. The lads seem to be jelling well and the fans are even more passionate then I've ever seen us. Are we going to be the team to beat in league 2? Do teams think we're going to be a push over? Or is this just a temporary high that will soon come crashing down as soon as a major injury comes along? (much like the Tinsley Towers R.I.P)
If we carry on playing the way we have been anything could be possible, well except for the second half of the match today which was more like watching a 5-a-side match at TRC on a tuesday night, but what do you think and can you see anything knocking us of our ever growing pedestal.......

I never doubted them (wrote this on football heaven group end of august!!) i said play offs or just outside!!

Im more than happy with the progress we have been making and if we can maintain current form and keep hold of Robins and keep hold of Richie then i can see us reaching the play-offs without much effort.

    Bring on Leeds tonight.

    Luton will deffo go down.

Say the season finnished like this (I know it cant)

    22 Bournmouth 0 points

    --------------------------

    23 Rotherham - 2 points

    24 Luton - 12 points

Would Bournmouth been the first team ever to stay up with no points?

im intreasted in L2 More so this season, Last season was looking over MK Dons results, tho im not a fan of the whole wimbledon/mk dons transition theyre Local to me, and a team with ambition, though im yet to go watch a game.

But like Rotherham Luton have also plumitted down the leagues of late and Luton are the best team in the County of Bedfordshire, how hew we lack football teams

not sure who will go down. I feel Rotherham wont, Luton might but there in quite good form, but the life of Luton nothings ever smooth lol...

also dont rule out other teams who arent deducyed points yet getting deductions, unfortunatly im unaware of the financial states of other L2 clubs at the moment.

    Relegation Stat

In 1961/62, the A-team of Dukla Tábor were relegated from the second to the third level, but saw their place saved by the B-team, who went in the opposite direction.

ill try find more relegation stats..or lack

    Some intreasting stats I found

EP Sétif's relegation was all the more shocking because they went on to win the African Champions' Cup (for which they had qualified as Algerian champions 1986/87) at the end of 1988, becoming continental champions as a second division club!

Manchester City's relegation was all the weirder because they scored more goals in 1937/38 than any other English first division club and had a positive goal difference.

    wow at that table O_O

Ajax won the Dutch Cup in
1970 after having lost in the round of 16 to AZ '67.
Since by that stage only 14 teams actually were in the competition, one
of the 7 defeated teams was drawn as lucky losers into the quarterfinal.
Ajax won that draw and then the Cup. The rule was abolished.

Bournemouth have had a shite start. They're so inconsistent. Can beat top of the table Bradford at Valley Parade 3-1 one week then lose to Wycombe 3-1 the next. Wycombe got done 7-0 at home last night by Shrewsbury.. For a squad with the talent it has Bournemouth should stay up but if they don't it'll probably mean the end of the club.

In all honesty, i don't think the relegation battle at the end of the season will have more than one team that started on minus points involved, teams like Grimsby and Barnet for example, still on low points and close too being over taken by us. Not sure if i can see Luton staying up tbh, 30 points is a mammoth task, and will have put a massive downer on the whole club and i think that's shown somewhat in their start too the season, but with the start they've had i just can't see it, unless other clubs have a really bad streak.

The next few games for us i think are gonna be important ones, just like against Luton, a win against Bournemouth makes a world of difference, and with having Barnet at home next week the next few games could push us well up the league.

    Rotherham United FC.

Why do girls insist on saying 'We won them' or 'we are going to win them' etc...THAT IS JUST WRONG. Please stop.
