Easily between Mario and Sonic.
If someone says to me 'plumber' I will just think of Mario same as if someone would say 'blue hedgehog' I'd say Sonic. [Not much chance of the blue hedgehog popping up though.]

When you say, name a gaming character, the one that instantly springs to mind is Lara Croft so i chose her.

- Posted: Fri 8th Aug 2008, 5:43 pm Can't remember where I saw it, but Im sure I read Sonic was recognised by more people than some Disney Characters. Mario might have come out earlier, but he didn't really have the mainstream success that Sonic had, especially in the 16-bit era. Although these days I think Mario has an overall better reputation. Sonic Heroes, Sonic Riders, Sonic (PS3/360) etc. all been absolute garbage.
