My diet...HELP!

My diet isn't going very well... I've been on one for about 2 months now and i've lost a grand total of...3 pounds! Usually when i used to diet, i would lose about half a stone within 2 weeks.I don't understand what I'm doing differently/wrong this time.

I eat around 1000 cals a day (1/2 recommended daily allowance) and about 15g-20g of fat (about 1/4 of RDA) with one day a week where I will eat the full 2000 cals as a treat

I go running 5-6 times a week, and run about 3.5 miles each time. I go on the rowing machine for 15-20 mins every other day. I do situps daily, as well as 20-30 mins dancing every evening. I also aim to walk at least 10 000 steps a day, which is 5 miles.

I do look a little more toned, but not exactly thinnerpeople on here who i know are on a diet have lost so much more weight in comparison to me

Do you have any good dieting tips? Any particular food/exercises you done that helped you lose weight? Please post hereee!

I was going to write this in the female diet/training thread, but then decided no one will really notice it in thereso I made my own thread

Your weight not going down as much might be because you're building muscle with all that excercise. If that makes sense.

    I'm not sure though lol.

Oh I forgot to answer the question. I do about 3 hours a day of ballet, sometimes more & that has always kept me healthy and toned and stuff.

I don't generally eat very healthily. I do eat shit loads of fruit and veg though to balance it out haha.

If you're doing all of that exercise, you'll have turned quite a lot of fat into muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, right? That's probably why you haven't lost that much. You look thinner/more toned from what I can see in your pictures anyway.

    Sorry I can't offer advice.

What's wrong with that? You aren't exactly fat, and now you look even better.

I wouldn't wanna be skinny, just 'thin/slim' would be nice

I know im not fat, but i would still like to be thinner, i especially would like to have thinner thighs and a thinner facebut it just doesn't seem to be happening! argh

I want a body like christina aguilera's, she's thin but looks ok cause she's short, like me

Because you've turned the fat into muscle which weighs more?

Dunno i guess in time you will get slimmer if you stick at it.

With other people loosing more maybe because they had more to loose? Like when your bigger you loose more faster or something?

You are probably doing too much exercise for the amount of cals you are eating, on some days you know you go below 1000 & it really can hinder any weight loss!

Try putting up your calories for a while!

I would say 1000 is to low for the amount you say you excersize, it made me ill as i said in another thread! I almost fainted 3 times in one shift and had ketones in my urine which means my body was breaking down my own fat for energy as i was not eating enough to provide me with the energy i needed .  I would knock it up a bit to 12-1500 depending on activity for that day.  For example if im not working and its not a day when i go to aqua i eat 1200, if im in work i need 1500 or if i have the day off and aqua ill be somewhere in between. Even though ive increased my calories im still losing weight, i'm losing a steady 2lbs a week which is great as it means i should have reached my target in 9 weeks time

Are you counting your calories right, because i noticed you listed them one day in the 'what have you had to eat today thread' and they seemed to be 200 for this 200 for that, my meals hardly ever come out in such rounded off figures as that , i may be wrong but are you guestimating rather than actually measuring and weighing stuff out?  Watch this vid and you will see how important accuracy is when your weighing/measuring out your portions

Muscle weighs more than fat, so all the fat you are losing is turning into muscle which is prob why you think you're not losing anything, but you are.

    You aren't eating enough.

I would say go at 1500kcal per day, and do either 30-40 mins of cardio in the morning before breakfast, or around an hour any other time in the day. I wouldn't overdo the exercise - choose between jogging, rowing and dancing and just stick to it, although there isnt any harm in combining them, but definitely dont overdo it - your body needs rest in order to function properly and become a good fat burning environment. Overdoing it will adversely affect you and lead to injury, chronic fatigue etc.

If you want to aid fat loss as well, then pick 2 or 3 days a week and either totally cut out carbs, or just have a small amount (maybe a couple pieces of fruit) in the morning and none for the rest of the day. Carb cycling is king for fat loss.

Give yourself a couple of months on the above and you should see better results.

Oh and have a naughty day like i do or you will crack up!

I usually purposely use certain amounts to get a rounded number, if that makes senseso it's easier to keep track of how much im eating. For example, the bread i eat is something like 98 cals per slice, two of them being 196 cals. I will then make my filling (depending what it is) add up to a rounded number of cals. So if im just having something on toast, ages ago i measured out some different spreads to see how much there was to how many calories. I'll then stick around that amount, which usually then brings it up to about 300 cals  because i purposely measured out 100 cals worth of filling/spread

I'll watch the video in a bit though, thanks

Edit: Just watched, I must admit when i measure things i may go a little over the rim

I am in the same boat kinda, well I lost 7lbs in the first 4weeks and now I have gained 2 lbs and not doing nothing diffrent.

I eat about 1,200 calories a day. I have 2 jobs, both of which are active, one I am constantly up and down ladders, up and down the stairs, lifting stuff etc, the other I am a cleaner and since the lift is broken and I have to clean 3 floors, I have to use the stairs and carry heavy bags up & down the stairs.

I also go to the gym 3 times a week where I do:

30 mins power walking on the treadmill

20 mins on the cross trainer

5000 meters [I think it is ] on the row machine in under 5 mins [this is meant to be a really good fat burner, according to fitness instructor]

3 reps of 25 squats against the wall with an exercise ball

3 reps of 25 sit ups

3 reps of 25 where you lift your legs up when your lying on the floor, sort of a backwards sit up [don't know what it's called]

Then I go to the pool and do about 10lenths [it's not really a lot cos the pool is only small, but I am not an overly good swimmer]

Tell me who wants to know What, when, who where Or how you do your hoes?
