Anyone else have a slight problem with people who apply for council houses?

I am all for them if people have a genuine reason for needing one.

Recently however I have seen people being able to specify what housing they want tho, for example guest bedrooms, getting the council to pathe their gardens/put grass on their lawns etc. My cousin even got the council to buy paint so he could redecorate (and then complained as he would have paint it himself).... another girl at work got pregnant so she could have her own house, and then proceeded again to want room in case her mother stayed.

Meanwhile people who work hard for a living, cant afford mortgages and are barely scraping by, whilst paying for a guest bedroom and paint for someone who doesnt want to work ?

This is really annoying, I applied for a council house after my son moved in with me cos I need more room but was told that I'm classed as low priority because I earn over a certain amount.

I mean what the fuck? So because my earnings mean that I can actually PAY them the rent and my council tax then I go the bottom of the list so that some workshy poncing fucker who'll get housing benefit to pay the rent can jump ahead? House prices here are too high for me to get on the property ladder, so as a single parent I'm forced to pay sky high rent on private lettings because I "earn too much"

Surely, seeing as I work and can pay my own way I should have at least be considered.

I'm not knocking everyone who has a coucil house, but it makes me sick that a lot of them are given out to people who don't appreciate them

The council isn't like that around here

You were my strength when i was weak,
You were my voice when i couldn't speak,
You were my eyes when i couldn't see,
You saw the best there was in me,
You picked me up when i couldn't reach,
I'm everything i am because you loved me.

Margaret Thatcher would have never allowed this to happen. Sad times.

I lived in a council house for the first 7 years of being in England. It was a fucking shithole full of scum, criminals, druggies and little sluts getting spitroasted in the alleys at all hours of the night. Although I never had any problems with anyone there personaly, it was still a shite place to live in.

I would never volunterily live there again.

You should have locked the door, they wouldn't be able to get in then.

I'm glad you don't see the need to

put any form of structure in what you say

    absolutely no reason

the council where i live are absolute wankers, we put our names on the list to get a flat but because we were both working we were scored very low on their points system. We were living with parents so we saved up some cash for a deposit on a mortgage. When we got a mortgage and bought our house a few weeks later we had a letter off the council offering us a flat, So i phoned them up and told them to shove it up their arses.  they were giving it the big one saying that we had now become top of the list because we were waiting over a year and she then had the cheek to say had wasted their time.

I live in a council house, and my parents are literally the only people on my street who work.

My next door neighbour claims carers allowance for looking after his wife, who has something wrong with her leg but goes about day to day life perfectly fine with no problems. And he claims it for her Dad who lives on the other side of me, who is deaf. Even though he doesn't even do anything for him.

All my neighbours are fucking scroungers and it's terrible.

My sister is living with her boyfriends mum, dad & sister and has just had a baby and the council say there isn't anything available for her. But one of my mates had a baby and claimed to be on her own and got one straight away.

    It angers me.

doesnt bother me if they pay their own way by rent and council tax, my parents live in a council place so i see no problem

but to have a kid just to get a house is stupid

oh well thats life, my old driving instructions son got given paint to decorate.

A girl i no got given a grant to do her house up.

It would piss me off that if i moved into a council house paying rent/tax and most people on my street were living rent and tax free

men are like tyres it never hurts to have a spare
